Five Stars Book Review : Larry the Alligator: Makes Friends

Reviewed by Vernita Naylor for Readers' Favorite In today's society, especially with social media, making friends can seem, if not difficult, then almost impossible. Everywhere you turn, people appear to have an intimate relationship with their smartphone, laptop or tablet instead of each other. For Larry, a shy alligator, making friends was not only a scary feat to overcome, but challenging. LaDonna Marie shows in her latest illustrated children’s book, Larry the Alligator: Makes Friends, that making friends is possible with perseverance and confidence. In Larry the Alligator, you are given the five key points that one would encounter as they work through the process of making friends - from improving their social skills to promoting positive interactions with new people that they meet. Larry the Alligator is an excellent book for a child, especially one who is an introvert. Larry the Alligator teaches a child some of the steps that can be taken to make a connection. Even when rejection occurs, with the proper encouragement and self-talk, a child can transition from playing alone to playing with others as Larry the Alligator was able to do. In Larry the Alligator, you will see that in connecting with others you can experience some commonalities that create and maintain a strong bond between people. If you have a child who is looking for a great book to help them to overcome their fear of making new friends, I highly recommend Larry the Alligator: Makes Friends by LaDonna Marie.
